Partnership with Salvation Army and WRAL-TV brings in thousands of coats
Raleigh, NC (January 15, 2008): For the fourth consecutive year, Capital Bank teamed with WRAL-TV and The Salvation Army of Wake County to collect coats and warm winter clothing for families in need this holiday season. During the 20th annual WRAL-TV Coats for the Children campaign, 10,075 coats were collected across the Triangle and $68,000 was raised to support the campaign. Fifty percent more coats were collected in 2008 compared to the previous year." In a time when everyone is concerned about the economy and how to make ends meet, we are thrilled to witness the giving nature of our community," said Paige Bagwell, director of operations and communications for The Salvation Army of Wake County. "We are blessed to have organizations like Capital Bank who set the example for others to follow by helping their fellow citizens and organizations like The Salvation Army. "Donations were collected at Capital Bank's Triangle-area branches from November through January.
Since 1989, the campaign has collected more than 113,500 coats and raised over $1 million to provide winter clothing for Salvation Army families. "We are proud to see the tremendous response from our community for this important effort and look forward to supporting the campaign for years to come," said B. Grant Yarber, president and CEO of Capital Bank. "This is a testament to the caring nature of the people across the Triangle who recognize the necessity to reach out to their neighbors in a time of need."
