MISSION STATEMENT

Summer Fun and Games... and God
The Salvation Army's Summer Day Camp provides youth ages 5-12 with a safe, structured and enjoyable environment to go during the summer months. While running, jumping and playing, kids will meet new friends, have fun and learn about God through Bible studies and Vacation Bible School programs.
Some components of the Summer Day Camp Program include:
- Bible study
- Educational and recreational field trips, including museums, swimming, skating, gymnastics, movies and more
- Recreational games and activities at the Community Center
- Arts and crafts
- Vacation Bible School and other fun activities led by various church groups

Camp Walter Johnson
Since 1974, Camp Walter Johnson has touched the lives of over 55,000 underprivileged children. This Salvation Army Camp began with a generous land donation from a local Denton, N. C. resident, Walter Johnson. He gifted The Salvation Army 143 acres for the campsite, as well as an additional piece of real estate that we were able to sell for $650,000. The funds from the sale helped finance the initial construction of the camp. Camp Walter Johnson is administered by The Salvation Army North & South Carolina Divisional Headquarters, in Charlotte, NC.
