RALEIGH, N.C. - On Wednesday November 15, 2006 from 11:00am until 7:00pm Balentines Catering Company located at 3801 Hillsboro Street will be selling Spaghetti Dinners to the public with proceeds benefiting The Salvation Army of Wake County’s Shelter for Women and Children.
“After working with The Salvation Army to raise money last year for Katrina Relief, I realized that this organization also helps with every day disasters for those in need with this community” says Barbara Dixon, General Manager of Balentines Catering. She further said, “when the one year anniversary of Katrina hit and with the holiday season quickly approaching, I wanted to do something special."
Last year Balentines Catering Company opened their doors to The Salvation Army on September 8, 2005 opening their new Banquet Hall and Conference Center located at 3801 Hillsborough Street. Balentines invited all their guests in attendance to donate to The Salvation Army’s Katrina Relief effort.
The Salvation Army of Wake County’s offers 34 bed emergency shelter for women with children. They provide stable housing and helps educate families to grow towards self-sufficiency. Residents are provided with 3 meals a day, case assistance with employment, daycare and housing resources. Classes are held weekly focusing on nutrition, parenting classes and budgeting. Children are provided access to playroom, books and The Salvation Army’s Afterschool Program.
