The holiday season is supposed to be a time for joy and happiness as we celebrate time with our families and the birth of our Savior. For many people in Wake County, however, the holiday season is anything but that. Hunger, poverty and the cold prevent them from experiencing the joy of the season. The Salvation Army of Wake County brings the miracle of Christmas to over 15,000 people each year through the following programs:

Coats for the Children
By partnering with WRAL-TV, coats and winter clothing vouchers are given away from October through February of each year. [ more information... ]

Angel Tree
Displayed at Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh, this program provides new clothing and toys for infants and children up to age 12. Individuals and corporations can sign up to adopt angels during the holiday season. [ more information... ]

Toy Shop
A make-shift toy shop is set up temporarily out of our Community Center, and the program allows needy families the opportunity to shop for free toys for their children during the holiday season. Support the Toy Shop by donating new Christmas toys. Click here for suggested items [ PDF file ].

Capital City Clauses Jingle Ball
The Capital City Clauses is a federally-registered, not for profit organization comprised entirely of volunteers. Each year they host the Jingle Ball, where admission is a new unwrapped toy valued at $20 or more. All toys and gifts collected at the annual Jingle Ball are distributed to children in need through The Salvation Army of Wake County's Christmas Cheer Program. Christmas Stockings
Civic groups and volunteers from the community stuff stockings for children in need. [ more information... ]

Gift Packs
Volunteers distribute gift packs to adults in need including nursing home residents and prison inmates.

U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots
The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program provides us with much needed new toys for distribution through our Christmas Cheer Toy Shop. Please visit their website at www.toysfortotsraleigh.org.
